This article's purpose is to explore the multidisciplinary nature of internal communications, and argue that an integrated approach to internal communications is beneficial when assessing knowledge sharing in organisations.

This article presents a review of relevant current literature, and explores the issue through qualitative interview data from a world‐leading multinational companies (MNC).

The empirical data provide support for the integrated view, and also enhance our understanding of knowledge sharing as an important and strategic function of integrated internal communications.

The integrated perspective here contributes to the understanding of internal communications in two ways. First, it draws from the domains of business, management, corporate, and organisational communication, which together incorporate both practical and theoretical knowledge. Second, it includes all formal and informal communication that take place inside an organisation.

Willard A. Hanna's astute observation above about the institutionalization of corruption in Indonesia was published in August 1971, five years after President Soeharto assumed power. The origins of corruption in Indonesia can be traced to the Dutch colonial period as bribery was rife among the lowly paid personnel of the Dutch East India Company (Day, 1966, pp. 100–103). However, corruption became institutionalized during President Soeharto's 32-year reign as his cronies and family “made an art form of creaming off many of Indonesia's most profitable ventures … while being protected by monopoly regulations and their relationship to the president” (Kingsbury, 1998, p. 202). Raymond Bonner (1988, p. 80) has used the euphemism “the family business” to describe “the corruption surrounding members of the Suharto family,” which was “a public secret” in 1988.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the implementation of initiative e-procurement in decentralized system on Indonesia’s local government system.

The authors combine quantitative and qualitative methods. The central finding of this research is that human resources are the pivotal factors that determine the performance of local e-procurement in three cities. This research focusses on three local governments in Indonesia – Yogyakarta City, Tangerang City, and Kutaikartanegara Regency.

The central finding of this research is that human resources are the pivotal factors that determine the performance of local e-procurement in three cities. However, Tangerang City is going institutionalization phase in e-procurement initiative to ensure its sound local regulation.

There are several limitations to this study including the recent nature of decentralized procurement in Indonesia, limited standardized and disaggregated data on local government procurement expenditures and performance.

The study recommends that human resources management in procurement needs to be addressed by both local and central government.

e-Procurement is an important instrument for preventing corruption in goods and services procurement. Indonesia has been implementing an e-procurement policy since 2008 based on a Presidential Decree. The president has issued annual orders (presidential instructions), and all central ministries and local governments have been required to comply with them to obtain their budget through the e-procurement system. However, as of 2012 fiscal year, only around 10.26 percent of the central government institution procurement budget and 10 percent of the local government procurement budget in Indonesia went through the e-procurement system, with wide variations among cities.

Generative AI and more specifically ChatGPT has brought a revolution in the lives  of people by providing them with required knowledge that it has learnt from an exponentially large knowledge base. In this viewpoint, we are initiating the debate and offer the first step towards Generative AI based knowledge management systems in organizations.

This study is a viewpoint and develops a conceptual foundation using existing literature on how ChatGPT can enhance the KM capability based on Nonaka’s SECI model. It further supports the concept by collecting data from a public sector univesity in Hong Kong to strenghten our argument of ChatGPT mediated knowledge management system.

We posit that all four processes, that is Socialization, Externalization, Combination and Internalization can significantly improve when integrated with ChatGPT. ChatGPT users are, in general, satisfied with the use of ChatGPT being capable of facilitating knowledge generation and flow in organizations.

The study provides a conceptual foundation to further the knowledge on how ChatGPT can be integrated within organizations to enhance the knowledge management capability of organizations. Further, it develops an understanding on how managers and executives can use ChatGPT for effective knowledge management through improving the four processes of Nonaka’s SECI model.

This is one of the earliest studies on the linkage of knowledge management with ChatGPT and lays a foundation for ChatGPT mediated knowledge management system in organizations.
